(FOXNews.com) BALTIMORE — Police say one man was shot in the face and another was severely beaten when a fight erupted during a birthday party at a downtown Baltimore hotel.

Baltimore police spokesman Anthony Guglielmi says the man who was shot was in serious condition at the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center. The man who was beaten was in critical condition at the shock trauma center. Both men are 18 years old.

Another man who had facial lacerations initially had been described as critically injured, though Guglielmi said Saturday that the wounds were superficial.

Guglielmi says officers were called to the Sheraton Baltimore City Center Hotel around 3:15 a.m. Saturday. Officers found an Uzi submachine gun at the scene. Police say they have a person of interest in custody.
