I understand what he means by this post, being an uber NIN fan i used to have these ” Projected” thoughts about him… Then i grew up and realized THE MAN IS HUMAN, The human side is what we should all love and admire about the man. On my “bucket list” I put “Spend A day with Trent Reznor” The reason being is because the man has helped me through his music and i owe him a huge “THANKS!” If Trent ever reads this i hope he doesn’t think i’m a creep :P

We all have these images we project onto the people who we regard as heroes, especially musicians, artists, actors, etc., and it always disappoints when they say or do something that runs counter to that projected image. I think that’s because, in an industry that’s built so much on fantasy and the projection of alternative realities as the creative industry is, identifying with any kind of actual reality is going to be a big problem. At any rate, we can’t blame the man for being human (that is, unpredictable, not doing the same old things we fans want him to do). The man’s going to do what HE wants, not the rest of us. He’s not our employee, come on…
