Talib Kweli Is to Hennessy as Rick Ross Isn’t to Louis Vuitton – The Battle of the Tacky

Two really CORNY stories broke recently in the hip-hop world.

1) Talib Kweli just recently got married, and he pulled a Star Jones-esque move i.e. he had his wedding sponsored by a corporation. A LIQUOR COMPANY. How ghetto!!!

So Hennessy sponsored Kweli’s wedding, and then released this picture of Talib saying I DO to a bottle of cognac. Roffle. What a joke wedding. At least Hennessy is ‘proud’ of the affiliation and sponsorship of Talib Kweli. And I thought Talib was a “conscious” rapper. He’s obvs not conscious of what’s tacky on a sacred day, and what isn’t.

SPEAKING OF TACKY…

2) Cue Ricky Ross. Apparently Louis Vuitton is in a huff (huff is a cute way to say – a company looking for free publicity), over Rick Ross wearing FAKE Luis Vuitton aviators on the cover of this month’s XXL. Rofflex2. Would you really expect any less from Rick Ross? He’s obvs a fake ass fuck, and the fact that he had the #1 album in the country is a joke on the mind state of Americans.

Here’s that story:

XXL magazine put Def Jam star Rick Ross on the cover of their May issue, on newstands now. The rapper was photographed at close range, donning Louis Vuitton sunglasses. The publication learned, by way of letter to the editorial staff from Vuitton’s attorney, that those glasses were indeed fake, causing a lot of controversy for the famed designer brand, and perhaps the rapper.

Sent by Michael D. Pantalony, Esq., the letter claimed the glasses’ trademarks were “counterfeit,” and caused “confusion” for readers and consumers. The attorney also clarified that Vuitton has no known association with the rapper or the publication. (via)

So, basically this is what I told Talb:

Good game, kids.

So, who’s more tacky?
