Michael Lohan, Lindsay Lohan’s dad is dubbed the “Hollywood Bad Boy Father“, but after a conversation with Michael, I would disagree. I think Lindsay has a great dad. We discussed everything from Ronson to Bronson. I am kidding, we didn’t get into any Death Wishes, but maybe a few fighting words. And with Michael’s upcoming celebrity boxing match, what could be better?

Shabooty: Hi Michael, when did you find God?
Michael Lohan: When I was a kid I was brought up Roman Catholic. I hit a telephone pole – I literally died in the [car] accident. I turned to God, I turned my life to him: February 23rd, 2004. I went to bible college, got involved in Teen Challenge and Ministry Mission programs.
Were you upset when Lindsay posed for those nude pictures in New York Magazine?
Lindsay’s an artist, an actress, a model, a singer, a dancer… her career choices are her own. I can’t tell her what to do, what not to do. As far as the [Marylin] Monroe spread, I don’t choose to look at them – it’s my daughter. As creative as it is, I choose not to look at things. For example, to see my daughter in an acting role where she was tortured [in the movie], I’m not gonna watch anything like that.
Do you have a short fuse?
There are times in the past with things involving my family, sure, but in general, no. When I went away [to jail] for DWI, you learn to tolerate things and situations. It taught me a lot… to be tolerant and patient in jail. Believe me, [I was] tested constantly by other inmates who tormented me and made fun of my daughter, ex-wife — cartoons and disgusting things on the wall, etc. Instead of the past, now I shut up and let nature take its course, I put it in God’s hands.
Is it true Lindsay has a half-sister?
When Dina [Lindsay's mother] and I were separated a long time ago, I was with another woman after 15 years, she calls me [saying] the girl she had was my daughter — I gave her the opportunity for a paternity test plenty of times, she never pursued it.
Have you ever had formal boxing training?
I trained for the last fight, but because I was on parole, I couldn’t fight. I’ve trained for a month or so, but I did study martial arts for a long time. It’s not the same (can’t use all abilities), but certain things you learn, like defense techniques you can use when you’re boxing.
Would you ever fight a Danny Bonaduce or a Jose Canseco?
Canseco’s way out of my weight range – I dunno what he weighs. Now Danny’s someone in my [weight] class. If they wanna fight, if it’s for a good cause and for a charity, I’d consider it.
What do you think of Samantha Ronson’s DJing skills?
To be very honest, I’ve never listened to her DJ once. But, flying to LA, they had one of Mark Ronson’s cds on the plane… I dunno what the big deal is, it’s crap. Now, I’d entertain the thought of Mark Ronson getting in the [boxing] ring.
Do you get along with Dina Lohan?
I get along very well – when you go through a divorce, a lot of people say and do things that aren’t right. Dina had to do what she had to do in a divorce case. She’s the mother of my kids, and I value that. I’ll love her for the rest of my life for that. We get a long very well now… we’ve put all that stuff behind us.
If you had to do it all over again, would you want your kids in show business?
When you have a kid, if your children are talented to that extend, of course, if that’s what they want. You have to support them in every way you can. I don’t believe you get involved to a degree where it changes the parent’s life or it having a negative effect on the child — [in that case, I'd] get them out and away [from showbiz].
How was the experience of doing The Howard Stern Show?
I’ll be very honest. Even though he’s controversial and edgy and provocative, I like Howard a lot. He’s a great radio personality, he does entertainment, you have to respect that. Every time I’ve spoken to him it’s been a good experience. It’s a lot of fun, Robin’s a sweetheart, Jackie’s phenomenally charitable, Gary [Del'Abate] — I speak to him all the time, they’ve always been fantastic to me. They all have. I respect Howard a lot because I understand after his divorce he was at my friend’s restaurant regularly with his daughter. He’s a very dedicated father. I admire him for that.
Is the Rocco guy you’re fighting a ‘douchebag’? [Editor's note: Rocco is a Philly radio personality]
I don’t used phrases like that. He seems like an okay kid. His girlfriend’s comment [at the pre-fight press conference] about my daughter and ex-wife were very inappropriate. If I can use one word, it would be a classless. I’m not sure if it was his girlfriend, but it was a woman in his entourage. She looked like a stripper.
Off duty stripper-hooker?
Yeah.
How many times have you been arrested?
What’s funny is, last night at 11 o’clock at night, I got a call from a kid that was friends with my daughter in Rochester, NY. I never met him, I had to bail him out of jail… his parents didn’t.
Do you count times women got dressed up as cops?
Four times (probation violations).
What was the longest stint in jail?
Three years for criminal contempt. Not securities fraud — my brother in law started that rumor. The [bro-in-law] that’s in federal prison for 9/11 fund fraud for a million dollars.
What?
He’s in jail for robbing people in the [Sept.] 911 disaster. Him — I have a problem with… I’d love to… *pause* forget it.
Would you ever do your own reality show where cameras follow you around?
If it was a good message and had a good statement behind it, yeah. We’re actually negotiating a deal right now – first and second largest reality TV show [producers] in the world, to come with us in a mission trip, where we go to brothels and get the girls out. I’d do it if it’s something positive with a good outcome – otherwise not.
When I was younger, I worked in the [entertainment] industry. [My big break] could’ve been Taps – I was on the final call back with all of them (Tom Cruise, Sean Penn, Timothy Hutton) and the same day I had an interview on the commodity exchange. I went to training instead of the final call back and took the job on Wall Street — both [industries] have their demons (entertainment & finance).
How did you hook up with Celebrity Boxing and promoter Damon Feldman?
When Damon heard I was doing the fight for charity in Long Island, he contact me and wanted me to fight a while ago. I couldn’t do that because I had made a commitment for the Long Island charity. [That hit a snag] …when you have an assault with probation, and when you’re on parole, you can’t box and that’s understandable.
What’s next for you after this boxing match?
Working – a lot of work to do. Going on a mission trip to Cambodia…
With your friend Stephen Baldwin?
Stephen Baldwin is involved with me in the Christian Value Network and the Jewish Giving Network which is the same model for a company. It’s just like when you go online, eg. Travelocity, 1800Flowers, etc, but when you purchase something through them, 15% goes to a church or synagogue or charity. The website’s CVN.org. You just sign up as a CVN member and you shop through there.
And the celebrity boxing match?
April 3rd, 8 o’clock — Airport Ramada, Philly.
