Animal Collective Gives Me The Douche-Chills.

First of all, I don’t want to take anything away from Animal Collective. They seem to be the “it” band these days in terms of internet indi buzz. But just because I don’t want to take anything away from them doesn’t mean that they don’t give me the douche-chills. They’re from Baltimore if you didn’t know…and honestly I didn’t know until they named their new album: MERRIWEATHER POST PAVILION. To the non “DMV”-er (DC, MARYLAND, VA), that sounds like a cool name. Expect that for a MD-er you know that is the name of a venue in Columbia, MD where often concerts are held, and not to mention high school graduations. I am not sure wtf marketing deal they have with MPP to name their album after the venue, but I find this EXTREMELY cheesy. To where cheeze-wiz is leaking out of the bottom of the can. I dunno if this is some deal like Yak Ballz has with Scifentlogy in which he named his most recent album Scifentology II after the clothing brand, but I find Animal Collective’s instance to be douche-chilly. I mean they might as well named their album “Animal Collective – The Kennedy Center,” or “Animal Collective – Showplace Arena.” Sigh. I hate some Baltimorons. And their album cover is annoying, too. It’s one of those cute-eye-trick images. While these guys’ music might be getting rave reviews, the other aspects of their work can lick-dick-thicks, as I say.

Republican Douches… Is There Any Other Kind?

Preface: I am only ASSUMING these Republican douches are douchebags. There is no proof of their douchery, no wait, there’s proof, and they’re douches.

Okay, the chick on the left has no thoughts in her head. The douche in the middle is probably some racist asshole, that would have to pay for sex, if it weren’t for his rich Dad that pays for him. And the chick on the right is in Fashion distribution? Does Tampax hire her to help beta test the pearl tampons? Meh.

The United Nations Pwns, Again.

I could have seen this coming. Daryl Palumbo‘s supergroup side project on eyeball records called UN: United Nations, has had their myspace (and facebook) pages removed. This come as no shock to me, however. The UN has fucked with my favorite author, Max Barry about his Nation States webgame which had a UN entity in it. UN does not like their likeness and trademarks used any f-ing where, and they police it stronger than the seas off Somalia. Here’s the AltPress story about the band UN:

Screamo supergroup United Nations have had their MySpace page deleted. It was formerly at this link. The deletion comes just a month and a half after the band had their Facebook page removed for legal issues.

The band posed a rhetorical question in response: “What will they remove next?” They’re also encouraging fans to “show support” by making the band’s logo a default photo for their profile on MySpace and/or Facebook.

We conversed with spokesman Geoff Rickly earlier this year, in part about some of the legality issues that have come up as the band prepared to release their self-titled debut full-length on Eyeball.
