Shabooty: Who are your favorite photographers to work with?
Jillian Ann: I like so many that’s so hard to say, but I love Sequoia Emmanuel [above photo], Justin Hyte, Joshua Rubin, Billy Sheahan, Zoe Wiseman, to name a few, there are so many though…
What print work or modeling work in general are you the most proud of?
I really enjoy edgy editorial work, or edgy look book work, very artistic work, gallery work, beautiful work that is surreal and strange.
What is your favorite kind of music?
Anything that moves me.
When’s your record coming out?
My Solo Record should be out in the Fall. My Collaboration with Resurrector from Heavyweight Dub Champion should be out in the Fall, as well. And I hope to release two instrumental albums one is an album focused on pianos and strings and is very deep called “Everything Else” and another called “Punk Meditations” which is ambient with a bit of a bite.
Where did you grow up?
In the middle of nowhere also known as Paulding County, I was born in Saint Elmo, TN and grew up in Paulding County. Then at 17 ran away to Atlanta, then to NYC.
Tell us in detail your diet and workout regimen?
I am a raw food vegan, I eat all organic local if possible – mostly protein, sauerkraut, seaweed, greens, fresh juices, berries, super foods and some fruits (apples berries). I take herbs from Amazon Herbs, Dragon Herbs, Digestive and metabolic Enzymes, minerals, pro biotics (Prana). I drink lots and lots of water that has been filtered by a system we have at our house that alkalizes the water as well as purifies it. I also drink tea, mate, green tea, herb teas, I take lots of herbs, eat lots of ginger, garlic, olive oil, coconut oil, flax oil, seeds, some nuts, and raw chocolate which I make myself or buy from Ulimana. I became a raw food vegan because it makes your skin look amazing, gives most people tons of energy, and it makes me feel amazing, and I can eat all I want and I don’t gain weight and I feel great and my skin looks great.
When I was younger I ate the standard American diet (pizza, etc.) and my skin was horrible, and I had a massive problem keeping thin and was depressed all the time, I figured something was wrong and set out to figure out how to fix it, I spent years researching and experimenting and am still learning lots.
The most important change I made was eating real food, and organic and local whenever possible, drinking the best water I could get a hold of (glass bottles not plastic), using all eco-friendly 100 percent natural cleaners in my home, using air filters, using 100 percent natural skin beauty and body products (like Burts Bees or Dr Bronner’s ). Basically, I went through my entire home and life and tried to get rid of anything toxic, inside my home, the products I use, and the food I eat, I try to keep it all as close to nature as possible. Since I have made those changes, my skin has become flawless, I am rarely sick, and my doctor always says I am one of the healthiest people he has seen.
As far as working out I walk, run, practice yoga, dance and am looking to expand.
Are you more strict on your eating or your working out habits?
I eat to feel good. I love how food makes me feel and can heal me. I am not strict with either, with all the traveling and touring I do I do the best I can, wherever I am.
So do you EVER eat fast food?
No, I always carry seeds and vitamineral green with me, so I never have to eat fast food.

I noticed that some of your photo shoots are in far off places and foreign countries – what is the story behind that?
Many are location shoots, Paris, Italy, Prague, Ecuador, Indonesia, London etc, some are friends, my family lives in the south and they don’t leave very often, and I have never been super close to my extended family.
Do you want to be known as a singer first or a model first?
Modeling has always been the way I have payed to develop myself, my sound my skills, I believe my new music is much more developed then my earlier music so I am excited to release it. I don’t mind being known as a multimedia artist, which is why I have tried to stick to more creative and artistic modeling work, at the end of the day I want music to be the center (I sing, write, play, produce) and modeling, videos, websites, writing, etc. expand outward.
How long have you been singing?
I used to sing all the time as a kid, but then kids picked on me, and were really mean.

…or Presidents and Kings offering me anything I want… yes.
Share a secret about yourself that is “hot”.
This sounds like a Maxim question… isn’t the bisexual question basically the same question?
Would you say you’re high maintenance?
I don’t think so, but I like what I like and I know what I want and need and I don’t tend to want to settle for less, so some people would say yes, but I just like what I like.

No, I like men who can challenge me, that’s far more entertaining.

That’s a joke… right? I actually rarely dates models – just good looking men from physicists to musicians, sometimes a model or actor, but they were the uncommon, not the common ones.
Describe your ideal guy or the type of guy you’re into (YOUR TEMPLATE)?
I have learned ideals cause problems, but finding things in common seems to work better, I like being with someone who cares about expanding the mind, caring for the body, the soul, likes to read, change the world for the positive, travel , create, live, dream, dance and of course make love.
Do you get starstruck when you see celebs?
No… But, I guess its because I grew up without TV and all the hype, I just see them as people.
How was the experience of being in a Moby video?
It was fun, the funny story was a few years before I got cast in his video, I was at his birthday party in NY, somehow I accidentally set myself on fire (there were candles everywhere) it caused a bit of a scene, I wasn’t badly hurt, but then years later when I was cast, I couldn’t help but wonder. It was a long day – we shot lots of scenes that ended up being cut out that I was more visible in, but sometimes that happens, you shoot for a long day and do all these scenes.
What’s your favorite fashion brand?
I like independent designers and or custom-made clothing, I find lots of very cool stuff in LA/SF/NY in small boutiques or I collect clothing from shoots in fact much of my stuff comes from shoots.
The LV or Chanel?
Neither.
Explain this line in your bio: “Due in ’08, ‘Punk Meditations’ is an album inspired by 10 days of silence and fasting, a year devoid of love-making and a desire to meditate.” A year devoid of love-making?!
Fasting, Meditation, Silence, and a year devoid of love making can be very mind expanding. I believe that the path of excess and extremes can lead to a form of awareness. I had done many years of not being silent, not meditating and making lots of love, so I figured I would see how long I could restrain. It wasn’t easy that’s why it only lasted a year, but I think it can be very grounding, and make you very aware of your own energy. Then, once your aware of your own energy, it is easier to know when it is not your energy.
I need and am planning to return soon to another ten days of meditating, which will mean ten days of no computers, no cell phones, no sex, no coffee… I find it very positive and refreshing, its like pushing the reset button. I wish I could meditate an hour a day – I try as much as I can, often in planes or trains or tour vans, but its hard with my schedule to keep up with it all.
Are you in LA these days or NY?
I am a bit nomadic. I spend most of my time in SF/LA/NY and then frequently travel all over the place for shoots and shows. I miss Brooklyn and hope to be able to live there and do a east coast tour promotion sometime in the next year, or so.
What are the biggest heels you’ll wear out?
I like shoes I can move in, so platforms or boots, sometimes heels, but only if I can walk in them. I shoot in far taller shoes then I can actually function in.
Do you still go clubbing?
Sometimes.
Do you drink or smoke?
Wine sometimes
What’s the darkest thing about you?
I am clumsy I trip over myself all the time.
Are all of your BFFs – models?
Models, Singers, Nurses, Media Directors, Lawyers, Doctors, Musicians, Producers, Artist, Geeks, …all kinds really,
Have any Hollywood types made any creepy propositions to you?
It has happened… all the classics of course.
What was the most embarrassing job you’ve ever had?
When I first started modeling I did a coke commercial. I feel bad about that, but I am starting to feel better since the company has been fighting the FDA on making Stevia legal.
Are you close with your parents?
Yes, we get along these days for the most part, if we don’t talk politics or religion.
Siblings? Any model sisters?
I am pretty close my brother works in the country music industry – has had some records he work on released through Sony. My sister trains and rides show horses, and my other brother is still in high school. My whole family is pretty independent, we are lucky if we talk a few times a year.
Last question. Has Polly Shore hit on you, yet?
Not yet.
