Lisa G, Employee Of The Month, And Her Howard 100 News Preview. 12/15/08. 7:20am
Howard said that Lisa G is employee of the month in his mind. He said that she was on this Good Day New York show last week and Lisa was on to promote her cookies. She mentioned SIRIUS XM and how great of a gift it would make a bunch of times. He said that was great of her to do that.

Howard said that Lisa goes on that show to do promotion like that and the people can’t wait to shut you up about it. The whole reason she goes on is to promote that stuff and they can’t wait to shut you up. Howard said that’s what it’s like when he goes on Letterman.

Lisa G said that she was on the show doing a cooking segment. Howard talked about all of the stuff she was putting into these cookies. He said that she was using the most fattening things in the cookies. Lisa said that she’s made them for the guys there. Howard said that Lisa has to rely on other companies to make the stuff she’s putting into her cookies though. Lisa said that people love that stuff.

Howard was going to play some of the audio of Lisa crow barring in some of the mentions for SIRIUS and the show. He ended up reading some e-mail they got about Lisa’s cookies and how expensive they are. The company is selling them for $28 for a dozen. People were going off on her about the pricing and how there’s probably hardly any money going toward charity. Lisa said it all depends on how many she sells.

Artie said that Lisa is obviously trying to lure him over to her house by making all of this great tasting food. Lisa said that they sold 50 tins of the Lisa G cookies so far and she’s very happy about that. Howard said she reminds him of Mrs. Fields or Famous Amos. Howard said that they had that guy on the show one time.

Gary said that Famous Amos lost his business and he lost all of his money and now he’s working for the company doing promotion. He was at a toy fair making his cookies in a toy oven not too long ago. Robin said they should have him on the show to talk about it. Gary said they really should.

Howard played the audio of Lisa plugging SIRIUS during that Good Day New York show. She was talking about her cookies and mentioned the Howard Stern Show and stuff like that while she was plugging those. Rosanna Scotto gave Lisa a hard time when she plugged the show and told her to tell Howard to plug on his own show.

Lisa had mentioned that they have a Hanukkah channel on SIRIUS this year. That led to Howard singing some Hanukkah songs that he knew. Lisa said that they have like 3000 songs that they can play on that channel and Janis Ian is hosting a show on there.

Howard had Lisa G run through her news preview. She said she spoke to a doctor about Benjy’s water fast and the doctor suggested that he not do that because the body eats off your muscles first and then the fat. Howard said that Benjy isn’t on a fast. Benjy said he did stick to it for 48 hours but then he had a tomato over the weekend.

Benjy said that he’s still fasting other than the tomato. Benjy said he’s lost like 14 pounds according to Lisa. Howard had him get on the scale so they could find out how much he’s lost already. Benjy weighed in at 236 and that was down from 250. Benjy said that he didn’t stuff before he started.

Howard told Benjy he did look better. Benjy said that he feels superior to people who eat. Howard said if he just ate normally he’d be fine. Robin said that Benjy isn’t normal so that won’t happen.

Lisa said that they say that Benjy could have some heart problems if he keeps up the water fast. Howard thanked her for reminding him about the fast because he wouldn’t have remembered it.

Artie said that he thinks he had a stroke this weekend. He said he was having something that sounded like a seizure going on this weekend when he was out. Howard said that he should get checked out. Lisa asked him about his alleged bleeding ulcer. Artie said that’s doing fine ”sweetie.” Artie said that Lisa won’t leave him alone and now she’s trying to hit on him on the air. He said this is unbelievable.

Lisa said that she spoke to Larry ”the Duck” Dunn who Howard and Gary were talking about last week. He actually works there at SIRIUS. Howard said that was cool when he heard what she spoke to him about.

Lisa said that she has a story about Marlo Goodstein’s book club reading Artie’s book. Howard asked Lisa how old this Larry the Duck guy was. Lisa wasn’t sure about that. That led to the guys talking about a bass player by the name of Larry Dunn. Then they were talking about other bass players like John Entwhistle. Howard had said that anyone can play bass. Howard said that guys like John Entwhistle just stand there when they’re playing and the rest of the band is running around. Howard said that Michael Anthony would run around and do stuff on stage. Fred said that he wasn’t at the same level as John Entwhistle was.

Howard asked Lisa about the book club thing. Lisa said that one of the women in the club wasn’t a fan of it. That led to them talking about Artie being number one on the NY Times Bestseller list for a week. Then he went to number 2 and now number 5. Howard said that it’s the way books sell that make it go so high the first week. He said that if he sold the same number of books over the time of 2 years or so, he’d be number one on the list for that whole time. He said that it’s really not an exact science.

Artie said it was weird that he went to number one on the LA Times bestseller list after he went to number 5 on the NY Times. Artie said that it was funny to see his picture in a magazine that had to print his book cover when they reported on him being number 1.

Howard said that one time a store took his book off the NY Times Bestseller list and replaced it with the next book in line. That was the store Caldor that did that to him.

Artie said that his book isn’t in Wal-Mart or Costco. He said they do that stuff for religious reasons. Meanwhile they sell guns in their stores.
