MURS 0-Day DC Show Report

I just got back from the MURS DC Show. It was bananas. Let me just frigging blog about this mo fo. Let’s see… sausage fest? yes. :( Temperature hotter than a Puff Daddy White party? yes. Kidz in the Hall kill it? yes. Murs kill it? POW/MIA/DOA.

Anyways, I talked to Naledge of Kidz in the Hall for a second after the show was over. I was probably a little douchey though, but all I asked him was a) yo man, do you read any blogs? like Byroncrawford.com? cause I thought you used to comment on there…? answer: I used to, I stopped reading them 6 months ago. Me: Oh? how come? Naledge: ah man, there’s just too many of em.
At this point I was trying to decide, do I ask to take a picture or do I ask the question he gets asked the most. So I asked: Yo man, what’s up with Double-O? I saw that video where he got roughed up. He okay – physically? Naledge: Man, we don’t really talk about that [but you see him here performing, so he gotta be fine]… Sigh. That was pretty much end of that convo. Lol. I wasn’t being douchey, was I?
I also managed to grab Murs for a sec for a picture. There was some douchey guy though from Boston who was talking his head off, talking bout he got a radio show up there, and he was trying to get an interview with MURS – talking bout he’ll play his records non-stop blah blah blah. But rule number one of meeting ill folks. Don’t talk their head off, just get to the point and shut the fuck up. Here was me with MURS: “Shabooty+LAist. Just wanted to take a quick picture. *snap photo* – doh I blinked *snap photo* word thanks man, check out my blog too, shabooty.com.” That was about it, despite the fact I already have a rapport with him (having phoner interviewed him), and could have tried to shoot the shit.

Anyways, I know MURS is single these days, so I am assuming he had his eye out for some broads, but yeah, DC is the place to go for ANTI-PUSSY, cause the pool of broads, even in the groupie-realm is slim to none and it’s silly I just used the word slim, cause these are some big bitches. :)

But yeah, it was one of the best shows I have ever been to in my life. Up there with El-P, Cage, Aesop Rock, Kanye West (before he was corny). And to Double-O, just because you’re [in]famous for being beaten up by some asshole club bouncers (and it happened to be caught on tape), it doesn’t matter… at least you got publicity and now you’re [on a level] famous.

p.s.

Another funny observation. I walk outside and there is the cliche cipher going on out front (a circle of folks freestyling). Then I see this one head by the wall talking to these two white chicks about how he could freestyle better than those guys, and white chicks in DC will call you out… they were like, ‘oh really, you’re way better? Why don’t you get in there and show them that they suck?’ Lol. He pussied out. Still funny though.

Someone graffitied ‘Sell Out‘ on the side of MURS’ tour bus. That’s sorta messed up.
