Shabooty: I love people who comment anonymously on my blog defending the covering of Linkin Park songs. Linkin Park is wack as fuck. They have a distribution deal with Hot Topic , so their cds are sold right on the counter. That’s not counter-culture, that’s douchery. The only reason I don’t totally dismiss Linkin Park is that they’re friends with artist Alex Pardee (who rocks). I think it’s one thing to play Linkin Park, it’s a whole nother lame level to cover Linkin Park, as if they’re hip. It’s watered down hip aka more dense lameness, you lame fuck.

MRGG Fan: The “point” is not to defend a band who covers Linkin Park….that would be retarded. Who cares? I’m debunking your whole senseless argument. On a side note, the only reason that you don’t totally dismiss LP as artists is because of who their friends with?? Wow. Talk about dense lameness. Music appreciation at it’s best folks. LOL. Enough about LP…that’s 1 band (out of the hundreds they cover). Mr Greengenes does not go out and play shows to prove that they write great songs. They don’t want to sell CD’s. They only want to play shows and make a decent living playing music because it’s fun and because some people don’t want to hear AESOP Rock or underground hiphop when they’re out. Nothing more, nothing less. If you’re looking for original artists…don’t go to the Ballroom. Go on ticketmaster, use iTunes, hit the 9:30 club, etc. The Ballroom does DJ’s and cover bands. Now you know…and knowing is 1/2 the battle. MRGG is not trying to prove that they can write insightful lyrics or that they come up with the world’s greatest guitar riffs. As far as charging a $10 cover….they are a BAND and bands charge covers. They pack every bar they play with a line down the street for a reason. They put on a good “show”. It’s expensive to put on a show like that. You clearly know little about playing out live. If $10 straps you, get a real job.

Shabooty: In your comments about Aesop Rock, I take it wikipedia was your friend, cause apparently all in your CD deck is Linkin Park cds. I love comparing cover bands to original artists. Do I really have to make this argument AGAIN? And to answer your question, his live shows are dope as fuck. And Aes’ fans are dope as fuck too, the after-party [of an Aesop Rock show] spills right into the fucking street where you kick it with everyone. Try “spilling into the street” at Arlington, VA’s “Clarendon BallDoucheRoom,” and see how cool people, and “MrGGs” fans are. They’re assholes like you. You’re contradicting yourself… admittedly decent lyrics, eh?… and btw, he’s a rapper that produces as well. You obvs haven’t seen him live, so you can’t talk, dumb-dumb. And fyi, I don’t think he plays corny suburbs “bars,” unless he’s in town to teabag your ….

MRGG Fan: wikipedia? Really? Wow. First off, I’m not compairing MRGG to Linkin Park. That’s great that Aesop’s shows are dope. He’s a good “RAPPER”. I even have a few songs of his on my ipod. I’ve never been blown away at all but, he has some stuff worth listening to for sure. More than likely, I prob wouldn’t go see one of his live shows but that’s just my choice. I can appreciate people who like his stuff and want to go out to see him. I’m a musician though and get bored easily by people rapping for 2 hours over a beat. That’s just my opinion from experience at hiphop shows. I’d rather listen to that stuff on my ipod. Furthermore, I know that I DEFINITELY wouldn’t randomly stumble into a bar that he was playing at, without knowing that he was on the bill….see a bunch of his fans diggin the show…and then complain about it on a blog. If it troubles you THAT much….dont pay the cover and just go somewhere else. Who’s the follower?

MRGG Fan: the fact that these guys didn’t give YOU chills doesn’t mean that they don’t blow others away with their “SHOW”. They have one of the biggest followings in the DC area for a band (and they’re not even from here). But I guess ALL OF THOSE PEOPLE are just mindless zombies? I can assure you those people have their own favorite original artists as well. They just wanna go out and have a good time and hear music they know. Nothing more, nothing less. Get over yourself.
