Mariann from Brooklyn is a frequent caller obsessed with Howard Stern. Due to her gravelly and grating voice, Fred plays sounds of crows cawing when she calls. (She likes to sing the line, “All I need is Howard in my life” to the tune of Enrique Iglesias’ The Rhythm Divine). Mariann is a 47 year-old homemaker who lives with her 22 year-old son Patrick, 13 year-old daughter Nicole and husband (name and age unknown). The first time the Stern crew met her in person, they were shocked to discover that she is relatively attractive. She recently rode the Sybian fully clothed and did not like it.

On May 17, 2006, she called the show and tried to talk to Artie Lange about the dysfunctional situation with his girlfriend Dana. Lange became defensive, calling Mariann an “unfunny cunt”, to which everyone responded in mild disgust, as Mariann seems to have good intentions. She “diagnosed” Lange with “Sad Clown Syndrome”. She did not ask for an apology, but instead participated in Lange’s roast on the evening of June 8, 2006. The two have since patched things up. [Via: Wikipedia]

Shabooty: Hi Mariann from Brooklyn, how long have you listened to ‘The Howard Stern Show’?

Mariann From Brooklyn: I listened for 15 years, had the guts to call in on a stone cold interview, said my name was Mariann from Brooklyn (MFB), and the rest is history.

What part of Brooklyn are you from? And did you grow up in BKLYN?

I grew up in Bensonhurst, 20 yrs Marine Park and now Bay Ridge –all Brooklyn.

Is it weird befriending the likes of other wack packers, i.e. High Pitch Eric, Jeff, etc… and which wack packers are you closest friends with?

The Wack Pack is a tight second family. We have a bond. [I am] friendly with Jeff The Drunk, High Pitch Erik, Irish John, Eddie the Produce Guy, and Crazy Alice by phone.

Are you liked by the Stern back office / staffers?

I guess the back office likes me, you would have to ask them, but they treat me great.

Do you call in -extra- annoying as shtick or are ya just easily excitable?

No shtick –its me, all me, true blue. I’m home, get passionate about something, and go off.

How often are you recognized in NYC / in person? I imagine you are ‘well received’ by fans.

Voice is recognized a lot. It can be embarrassing, but always a laugh in the most random places.

Do you listen to every minute of every show?

I listen everyday from 6 am unless there’s an emergency. NY family knows its my indulgence.

We know you’ve met Howard live in person, have you met his fiance, Beth-O?

I met Beth-O many times –beautiful in and out.

Do you go see Artie Lange when he does Atlantic City/shows in the NY area?

I saw Artie 2003 at The Stress Factory [for the] first time. And Nov 2007 @ Avery Fisher –very good.

What are your favorite ’spots’ in Brookyln be it for entertainment, food, or just leasure?

I love Seagate Beach, Nathan’s Hotdogs [editors note: @ Coney Island], walking by the water, shopping century21, Ponte Vecchio for great Italian food, and Lieyen for Chinese food.

Even if you aren’t invited to Beth and Howard’s wedding, do you feel you’ll vicariously be there via birdseed? Heh, kiddin.

I will never be invited to the wedding, I am on the other side of the fence, but that’s okay, can’t have everything.

To sum it up, being a Howard fan is a big part of my life, it takes me away for awhile to enjoy what I love, it makes me feel good and laugh and think. The rallys, the film festival, wack pack thanksgiving, Halloween party, etc, are all memories I will treasure forever, not to mention everytime I have been in the studio with Howard and the group and they have treated me great.
