Apple’s official tips on saving battery life on your iPhone.

MY iPHONE ANTI-KINKS TIPS:
#1: FAULTY POWER-BRICK
I like many, had a faulty power-brick. That is the white a/c adapter looking thing that plugs into the wall-outlet. Mine would work -sporadically…or if you never moved it from the wall outlet. As soon as you used it, and moved which outlet it was in, it would stop to work full-stop. I went to the apple store and met w/ an apple-genius at the genius bar, and they swapped it with a working one. That problem: FIXED.
#2: BATTERY GETTING DRAINED
To combat a really fast draining battery there were a couple settings adjustments I made that have made a huge difference. I changed the email check to once an our vs every 15 minutes. I turned off wi-fi (unless I am consciously using it). Turning off the wi-fi makes a world of difference. Try it. Lastly, I am “fully charging” the battery which brings us to kink number 3.
#3: BATTERY NOT CHARGING TO 100%/ USAGE STATS NOT RESETTING
On the Apple discussion boards this is a major point of contention aka fancy way of saying, a common bug people have been encountering. They charge their phones over night, yet when they wake up, they don’t see the “plug icon” in the top right, they don’t see the 100% charged -infamous- “Glowing Battery”… instead they see a 90% charged battery graphic with a very noticeable sliver showing the phone isn’t fully charged. On top of this my usage stats (which are a cute tool to see how long you’ve used the phone and had it on stand-by since your last full charge) -my usage stats were blank! The solution: Charge it over night, Charge it with the wall-adapter/power brick, AND TURN ON AIRPLANE MODE -which disables, GSM/WiFi/Email check etc… Once you wake up, you should be greeted with a glowing battery, and reseted stats.
***update:
FYI- I took my own suggestions for a second night in a row, recharging via the wall-adapter over night, in airplane mode. When I woke up, I was not greeted with the pretty, glowing full-green battery. Instead the evil sliver was present. I didn’t freak out, but I started trying different things. The first thing I did was, I connected it to my mac, it synced up, but still no 100% charge. Then, I remembered reading about another method of success. This is what I did. The phone was on the wall-adapter in airplane mode. I unplugged it from the wall-charger, took it out of airplane mode (which turns on the edge network, email check, etc). This allowed for the battery to drain a hair. I turned airplane-mode back on, and plugged it back to the wall-charger. In a few seconds, it charged it back up to 100% (probably from 99%), showed the 100% illuminated green battery glow, and it reset my usage stats to 0 mins since last full charge. So having done that, I am now two for two for FULL CHARGES. My last full charge lasted me two days without recharging, and I still probably had 25% battery left at the end of those two days.
#4: WiFi not connecting to my home wireless router
I have a netgear wireless router at home, but have always had troubles being able to connect to my wifi. Here’s the solution: Go to iPhone settings, turn off wifi. Unplug power to the wireless router for 5 seconds, plug it back in. Wait 20 seconds for your wireless router to powerup and reconnect. On iPhone, re-enable the wifi. Search for your router, click your router (NETGEAR) in my case, and wallah, you’re on wifi.
~~~
Having said all of that, I pretty much got all the kinks worked out on my iphone…granted with alot of headache and effort. My power brick died, got a new one, I know how to get on my home wifi network, I know how to save battery life by keepnig wi-fi off unless I’m using it, and now I can fully charge the battery & reset my usage stats.
Let me know if you have similar success with your JesusPhone.
Cheers,
