Editor: This is interview 1 of 2 this week! Come back soon for my long awaited sit-down interview with underground hip-hop producer/rapper/mogul El-P!
Shabooty: JENN!
S: Internet phenoms are interesting –specifically how unavoidable they are… I remember when you came on the scene it was literally impossible to not see you or hear about you or read about you on a (or every) corner of the ‘net. In fact, I am sure I blogged about you in the past.
A couple months later, I even open up my print magazines (stuff/maxim),etc and there you are as well! What was that mass level “tila tequila of facebook”-esque exposure like? How fast did you “blow up”?
JENN: It pretty much happened overnight. It was the day after the game and the FSU message board warchant.com had picked up our screen captures and our pictures from the game.. and the rest kind of snowballed from there, thanks to sites like facebook and myspace.
——————–
S: Did your original popularity come from the televised college football games @FSU, where the camera-guys couldn’t pull away from you?
J: I would definitely say it sparked something. My girlfriends (more so than I) were already well known on campus. I was kinda the dark horse candidate that came from all of this. I bar tended so of course I was known in the nightlife scene, but mainly by the Greek crowd.
——————–
S: I know you’ve seen that youtube facebook stalker parody music video. I think they pay homage to you… I agree with your comments -at least make it funny, which they did!
J: The only thing that sucks is the crazy amount of mail I get where people write, “Yeah, you’re famous on you tube.” I just kinda smile and pat them on the shoulder and reply.. hun I was here long before the stalker video. Because even in the video you can tell its one of my website pictures they used, and that is a super old shot, from after the Miami incident. It’s still flattering of course.
——————–
S: My sis went to FSU – we all know it’s a party school. Aside from the obvious party atmosphere what’s something about FSU the avg folk doesn’t know.
J: That they have an amazing academics record, which doesn’t get nearly enough recognition. One of the reasons I transferred was for their psychology and criminology programs. Both are some of the best in the South.
——————–
S: Have you been up to my alma mater, UMD (Maryland-College Park) yet?
J: Not yet, but I have a few friends up there, so I’m sure a trip will be in order sooner or later.
——————–
S: How has working with SI and touring been?
J: Working with Sports Illustrated has been my dream come true. I basically get to relive my college experience, only with none of the homework. You couldn’t ask for more really. I have gotten a really warm welcome at most of the campuses I have visited, but especially Oregon and Wisconsin. Those kids knew how to party and were die hard hoops fans. It’s schools like that, that make me think I should go back for grad school.
——————–
S: We know you love football -but be honest before you became THEEE Jenn Sterger of a million-things, fame… were you into other sports as well?
J: Of course. I think my dad was slightly pissed that he got to girls instead of a boy so he raised me to love things all sports. The only thing that sucks is I was just too uncoordinated to play any of them well.
——————–
S: I wont ask since I have love, but do you get asked if you’ve had “enhancements” a lot?
J: There’s only one thing about me that is “enhanced.” Well.. two. And I have no regrets whatsoever. Except for the fact people will make false assumptions about my character based on them. But as far as I am concerned, that is their loss.
——————–
S: Who was your partner in crime? I remember you being next to her at all of those FSU games…
J: I’ve had multiple partners in crime throughout my journey. People move on.. people graduate.. it’s just a fact of life. My new girls I absolutely love, with Allison Torres being the one to step in and take my place this season while I am on the road. A girl can only be at one place at a time.
——————–
S: What do you see yourself doing 5 years?
J: I have absolutely no idea. Right now, I am simply living in the moment and taking each day as it comes to me. Would I love to do something in the entertainment industry?.. Of course, but I am not above going back to school to get my law degree.
——————–
S: Have you had any Indecent Proposal-esque offers from shady rich old guys?
J: Duh. But I’ll spare them the humiliation of posting their info on the internet for ridicule and harassment. Honestly, I don’t know what they were thinking. It’s honestly just sad. It all goes back to people making false assumptions about you based solely on how you look.
——————–
S: When are we seeing you in film?
J: Only time will tell. But I wouldn’t bet against me.
——————–
S: Where did you grow up? Florida?
J: I was born in Miami, raised in Tampa, and now reside in Lutz. So small they filmed simple life two down the street from my house. But I kinda like it that way.
——————–
S: Is a spring break in Florida played out for you now?
J: My entire existence in Florida has been one big spring break. Plus, seeing as I have technically graduated, I really don’t get one. While most of my girlfriends were on the beach this past March, yours truly was in Madison Wisconsin up to her boobs in snow. Not my idea of a spring break, but at least the kids there showed me a great time.
——————–
S: Of the various press you have received which was the most enthralling/or were you the most proud of?
J: Definitely my Sports Illustrated articles. I think they lend a voice to this persona that has developed and people get to know the real me. The thing I am most proud of though is my blog. It is a lot more personal and touches on things I can’t necessarily talk about on SI.
——————–
S: Are your parents happy & excited for your success?
J: My parents are totally supportive. We haven’t always seen eye to eye on the decisions I have made.. but they respect the fact that I am becoming an adult and I am capable of making my own decisions.
——————–
S: Do you do fantasy football?
J: Of course.. is that a trick question???..
[E: Not every chick is as cool as you, so not a trick-q there!]
——————–
S: Who are your top 5 sports teams?
J: Tampa Bay Bucs
San Diego Chargers
Anaheim Angels
Atlanta Braves
And of course: The Florida State Seminoles.
——————–
S:
Okay F-Marry-Kill -(F***-one, Marry one, Kill one):
John Sally, Magic Johnson, John Amaechi
(haha I don’t make it easy for you, do I?)
J: Um, I have only met one of them.. so.. this question is kinda out of place. But, if we pick some of my ex-boyfriends that should be easier.
[E: Leme guess, she met John Sally...he hangs at the playboy mansion a lot
update: yes, it was in fact John Sally... lol, what a shocker -I called that.]
——————–
S: On your S.I. Tour what is on the docket?… Indy500?
J: Right now is my downtime. I get to travel, go where I want.. do what I want. And write about what happens to me. Once football season starts up –well, that is when things will get a little crazier.
——————–
S: Under the FSU Notable Alumni page on Wikipedia…have you made it yet?
J: No idea. I try not to search the internet for stuff like that.
[E: I checked, someone needs to update that thing...]
——————–
S: So what’s been your deal with dudes/aka LOVE…any luck?
J: Ha! my love life is non-existant. I have met some great guys but I am so jaded from the last long term relationship I had that I really have yet to give someone a fair chance. Though, someone did recently tell me that I have to be willing to take risks on people, and trust that not everyone would let me down. I’ve always said that, but that is when I was a die hard hopeless romantic. Now, I think I just might be hopeless. LOL. Who knows?.. I never say never, but right now, I am just more focused on rebuilding myself and making myself the best version I can be. After all, you have to love yourself, before anyone else can.
——————–
S: This isn’t a question but rather a comment –Plz don’t ever date Polly Shore. He’s a scumbag!!! He beds all of the playmates. Hence I hate.
J: I’ll write that down.
——————–
S: Would you ever do the Howard Stern Show?
J: As long as I didn’t have to ride that “Thing“, I’m open to the idea. I think Howard has some great insights about life and the industry in general. Plus his entire crew is incredibly witty. Well, except for the Miss Howard Stern (Not Beth BTW). She’s not the brightest crayon in the box, but nevertheless, very entertaining.
[E: That thing is the sybian... lol. Miss Howard Stern is great...]
——————–
S: What is in your “CD Deck” currently?
J: What the hell is a CD deck. Get with the times kid. It’s an IPOD. I’ll listen to pretty much anything from rap to 80′s, I am an equal opportunity listener.
——————–
S: Tell me something we don’t know about you.
J: I used to be a bowler. No really. It’s the only sport I have ever truly excelled at. Plus.. its air conditioned.
——————–
S: How are your beer pong skills?
J: Slacking. I haven’t played in forever, since I gave up drinking as my New Year’s Resolution. Mine is still going strong while most of my buddies fell off the wagon after a couple of weeks.
——————–
S: You already graduated, right? In 2005?.
J: Actually, just finished up. Will walk this summer hopefully.. if I walk. Haven’t decided yet.
——————–
S: Will you ever go for your masters? law-degree?
J: Most definitely. At some point.
——————–
S: Last Q -Do you miss the daily scene @FSU? or are you still in the FSU college scene hardcore?
J: I miss Tallahassee with all my heart, but the nightlife scene there had worn out its welcome in my book. There was really no place in my life for going out anymore. Plus, when you go out.. people will talk. They will say things. I gave up drinking, and really doubt I will find my next future ex boyfriend at a club.. so there is really no point.

THANKS JENN!!!
