GloTHONGS . . .check ‘em out!

They call it the GloThong.

For $49.95 you get a thong that lights up the derriere and almost everything around it for at least two hours. It’s water-resistant and comes with a battery wall adapter, or you can buy a car charger similar to those used for cell phones.

…GloThong is the idea of Beau Carpenter, who works at NASA and is an MBA student at Rice University. The avid runner had wanted to create luminescent jogging apparel, but he got sidetracked after finding a slew of thongs on the Internet.

“Why not make a thong that glows in the dark?” he thought.

Assault and Batteries: a cautionary tale

I have several electronic devices that run off batteries. (No, not those types of devices — get your minds out of the gutters.) A while ago I got tired of buying an endless stream of AA and AAA batteries, so I figured I’d invest in some rechargeable batteries.

Bad move. I shoulda read the fine print.

The first sign of trouble was when I plugged a AAA into a medical device. It gave me the “BATTERY FAILURE” message immediately, even though the battery had just spent 24 hours in a charger. The second was when my digital camera’s LCD screen wouldn’t light up. That’s when I looked at the tiny print on the side of one of the new batteries, and compared it with a standard AAA.

The rechargeable only puts out 1.2 volts. A regular puts out 1.5 volts. And a lot of modern devices are very sensitive to that 20% shortfall…

Syrup has been optioned! Yes, the heartbreaking, inspirational story of one novel’s quest to become a feature film continues. When the rights became available again earlier this year, I was lucky enough to have a couple of choices, and in the end I plumped for Fortress Entertainment. This is a brand new financing & production company headed by a couple of guys who completely got the story and made me think they could do great things with it.Last time I went on this particular ride, the production company got themselves a script I didn’t much like. For me it was too focused on the logistics of Scat and 6’s challenges and not enough on their relationship. But there was nothing I could do about this, because when a studio buys the film rights to a novel, the last thing they want is an author hanging around wringing his hands about how his precious words are being changed. I just had to wait until the option expired, and start again. So this time, with Fortress, I said…

yeah, I’ve never heard of Fortress Entertainment and it’s def. a step down from section8 films (Steven Soderbergh’s production company behind the movie adapation of Max’s other work Jennifer Governemnt)… but hey, if they let Max be hands-on and if Max can “do his thing,” I don’t see why it can’t be a good marriage of creative minds/artists and financieers…

who knows really… either way if they end up not even making SYRUP the movie (which I think has blockbuster potential –dependent on who they cast to play the character SIX), Max is raking in the dough everytime a production company options the movie rights for his novel… so it’s all gravy down in Aussyland.

People flock to online journal after 16-year-old’s arraignment

“Just to let everyone know, my mother was murdered.”

This simple yet startling sentence marks the last entry Rachelle Waterman made in her Internet journal before she was arrested on charges she participated in killing her mother. And it marks the beginning of an online discussion that’s as remarkable for its popularity as its content.

Waterman is the 16-year-old high school honor student from Craig jailed with two 24-year-old men who troopers say schemed for months to kill 48-year-old Lauri Waterman.

Waterman started her diary on LiveJournal.com in September of last year, and anyone with Internet access can read the 100-plus entries she’s written.

She made her final entry Nov. 18, the Thursday after she spent the weekend in Anchorage playing in the state volleyball tournament. While she was at the tournament, police say, her two accomplices killed her mother.

The Nov. 18 entry includes two more sentences by Waterman explaining she won’t be online for a while, because police seized her computer.

For several days, the Web site was quiet. Then came stories about Waterman’s arrest and arraignment, some of which mentioned the journal. Since then, it’s become a hot spot.

On Wednesday, the day of the arraignment, 11 readers had commented on Waterman’s final entry. By midday Friday, the number was up to 256. Twenty-four hours later, it was over 1,600.

…It is now over 5000.

ALEXANDER THE GAY?

I saw Alexander today… it wuz mad homo, but we do see Rosario Dawson’s “Creek Beds” if you know what I mean LOL, her sweater kittens… they are nice :)

Amaru Entertainment Releases Statement On Tupac Bootlegging…

Tupac Shakur’s record label Amaru Entertainment recently condemned the piracy of Tupac’s latest posthumous release Loyal to the Game (produced by Eminem), which has been prematurely leaked through illegal downloading in the past few weeks.

While some sites provide the single “Uppercut” from Loyal to the Game for download, the track has yet to be officially released through Amaru or their parent label Interscope.

Amaru, describing fans as Pac’s “extended family,” said many have alerted the label to illegal reproduction of the album through email, out of love of the slain rapper.

“Tupac’s fans are completely intolerant of this bootlegging and piracy,” Amaru said in a statement. “The reality of today’s music industry is that Internet piracy and bootlegging runs rampant like a plague.” The label added that most of the bootlegging violations usually proceed during pressing and distribution once the album is complete…
